| Recap of our Author's Visit - May 11, 2026 The best way to measure Meredith Davis's visit to Yale Elementary is the fact that no one wanted her to leave! Throughout her presentation, Yale's 5th graders were captivated, and their nonstop questions during her Q&A showed they paid attention and cared about what she was saying. Mark Twain famously said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." Except, travel is expensive and inaccessible to many, but Meredith made her travels seem so real to Yale's students. Davis relates so well to the kids. The way she introduced them to Rebeka Uwitonze made them culturally aware of just how different the world can be ("she doesn't have a phone?! Really?!" kids have said in both her visits), while also showing she's just a kid like them and who strives for the same things we all do. Meredith Davis has visited Yale twice, in 2023 and 2026, and boy would I love it if all kids could leave having witnessed her message! Our kindness was showing at Altrusa Richardson’s Kindness Action Ninja Day! Altrusans from many clubs (Altrusa Richardson, Altrusa Garland and Altrusa Collin County) came together to (1) donate 200 care packages for military overseas, (2) create 200 kits for Days for Girls, and (3) donate numerous linens (towels, wash clothes, sheets, etc) to Hopes Door New Beginnings.
